ADL Youth Conference for Bridges Student Leaders -- GFMS/TFHS - 32 students Gr 6 – 11 This grant will allow these Students to attend the New England Anti-Defamation League Annual Youth Conference.  The Students will have the opportunity to hear speakers, music, and breakout sessions on anti-bias.
 
Boatbuilding-Regional History Unit –TFHS - 18 students Gr 11 and 12.  This grant will allow for materials so that the students may build a dory/skiff using traditional building methods that would have been used in the 19th 20th century.  The activity follows a history unit the students will study.
 
Brain Builders – Hillcrest - 20 Kdg and First Grade students.  This grant provides for materials for students who need extra movement breaks during the school day.  These activities can also be shared with all students during indoor recess.
 
Dear Evan Hansen Field Trip –TFHS - 8 students Gr 9 - 11 This grant will allow for a field trip to NYC to see the play Dear Evan Hansen.  A workshop with the actors is included in the trip. The play explores mental health, feeling like an outcast, overcoming teenage problems.
 
Portraits of Turners Falls –TFHS – 30/40 Gr 11 and 12 students.   This grant will fund a stipend and materials to carry out a photography project at the HS.
                                                        
“Turn on the Light!” – TFHS - 24 students—Gr 9-12.  This grant will fund materials for an abstract Luminary Light Sculpture to be made in art class.   

  

Fall 2018
 
Calipers &Micrometers for New Metrology Unit---TFHS—Gr 9 -12 (30 students per semester)  This grant will allow for purchase of equipment to support this new class.
 
Diverse Books Read Aloud Resource Library---Hillcrest - all students.   This grant will allow for purchase of read aloud books revolving around the themes of diversity and social justice. These books would supplement their LA Curriculum.
 
Grade 5 & 6 Field Trip to UMASS - Sheffield—60 students.  This grant will pay for transportation to UMASS for these students in order for them to get exposure to college and career readiness.
 
Language –related “food days”—TFHS/GFMS—all 72 students Enrolled in “Intro to World Languages”.  This grant will allow for purchase of ingredients to make a food dish representing the culture they study, Latin, French, Spanish, Russian and Japanese.
                                                         
Local Storyteller Visit---Hillcrest---whole school.  This grant will allow a professional story teller to visit Hillcrest School in the spring.  It would supplement all the work students have been doing in literacy for the school year.
                         
Personalizing 9/11: Understanding a National Tragedy through the lens of Primary Sources and Artifacts---TFHS—Gr 10 Honors—18 students - This grant will allow for transportation to the 9/11 museum and memorial in NYC. This would supplement class work currently being done on this tragic event in our history.
 
Pioneer Valley Symphony---Sheffield—gr. 3&4—120 students.  This Grant will allow for transportation to GHS to view a Pioneer Valley Symphony performance, this spring, after studying a symphony in Music Class.
 
Pioneer Valley Symphony---Gill—Gr 3 & 4—45 students.   This Grant will allow for transportation to GHS to view a Pioneer Valley Symphony performance, this Spring, after studying a symphony in Music Class.
 
Trip to UMASS Amherst ---GFMS Gr 6 (68 students) this grant will pay for transportation to UMASS for these students in order for them to get exposure to college and career readiness.
 
Using Children’s Literature to teach Mindfulness, Self-Regulation And Kindness—Hillcrest—Students in Therapeutic Classroom (3 so far) This grant will allow for purchase of several literature books to help these students learn different strategies to use when in stressful situations.
